In the first match of the 5-match Test series between India and Australia being played at the Optus Stadium in Perth, Team India had strengthened its hold at the end of the second day’s play. Team India, which had scored only 150 in its first innings, bowled out the host team’s first innings for just 104 runs. At the end of the second day, the Indian team had scored 172 runs without any loss in its second innings. While Yashasvi Jaiswal was unbeaten after scoring 90 runs, KL Rahul, who got the responsibility of opening the innings in this match, was also unbeaten after scoring 62 runs in 153 balls. On the basis of his half-century innings, Rahul has left Rohit Sharma behind in a special matter.
Rahul now becomes the player to play more fifty plus innings than Rohit in SENA countries
KL Rahul has been facing criticism due to his performance for quite some time now, in which even in the home Test series against New Zealand, his bat could not do anything special, in such a situation, before the Australian tour, he was included in the team. Questions were also being raised regarding the selection, after which now Rahul has answered everyone on the basis of his half-century innings in the Perth Test match. This is Rahul’s 8th inning of fifty plus runs in SENA countries i.e. South Africa, England, New Zealand and Australia together. On the basis of his innings, Rahul has now left behind Rohit Sharma and head coach Gautam Gambhir together, in which both of them have played 7-7 fifty plus innings in SENA countries.
Rahul made a historic partnership with Yashasvi
It is not at all an easy task for the opening batsmen of any team in Australia to face fast bowling on the pitches there. In such a situation, KL Rahul along with Yashasvi Jaiswal have made a partnership of 172 runs for the first wicket. This is the first time in Australia after 20 years that Team India has seen an opening partnership of 100 plus runs. If these two players are successful in taking this partnership to 192 runs, then in this situation it will also be India’s biggest partnership in Australia so far.
