IND vs AUS: The Indian cricket team will play the second test match against Australia in Adelaide from tomorrow i.e. 6th December. Before this important test match, bad news has come for the fans of Team India. The Indian women’s cricket team’s tour of Australia has started with a very bad defeat. In the very first match, the women’s team was all out on the score of just 100 runs. After this, Australia won the match in just 16.2 overs.
Actually, the ODI series between India and Australia started from 5th December. In this match played at Allan Border Field in Brisbane, Team India won the toss and decided to bat first. Starting the innings, Team India’s opening pair returned to the pavilion with a score of just 19 runs. Priya Punia was out after scoring 3 runs and Smriti Mandhana was out after scoring 8 runs. Both the batsmen became victims of Megan Scutt.
The opening pair disappointed
Priya Punia, playing in place of Shafali Verma who was dropped from the team, could not make her comeback memorable. Experienced opener Smriti Mandhana was caught behind the wicket on an outswinger going outside the wicket. Punia, while trying to play a big shot, was caught out at backward point off the ball of Shutt. Captain Harmanpreet Kaur (17) was shown the way to the pavilion by fast bowler Annabel Sutherland.
Australia registered a huge victory
India’s score at one time was 62 runs for three wickets but after that their innings fell apart like a pack of cards. Apart from Jemima and Harmanpreet, only Harleen Deol and Richa Ghosh could reach double digits. India lost its last three batsmen at the score of 100 runs. Fast bowler Megan Scott laid the foundation of Australia’s big victory. He took five wickets for 19 runs and played an important role in bowling out the Indian team cheaply. Scutt achieved the feat of taking five wickets for the first time in her career by dismissing Priya Mishra.
In reply to India’s 100, Australia also faltered for a while in the middle and lost 4 wickets for 77 runs. However, opening batsman Georgia Voll, playing her first ODI, batted with ease and ensured Australia’s easy victory. Georgia Voll played an unbeaten inning of 46 runs in 42 balls. Australia won the first ODI by losing 5 wickets with 202 balls remaining.
