The latest case is related to the veteran Australian cricketer who has expressed his desire to play in the Border-Gavaskar series to be played between India and Australia next month. You will be surprised to know that this cricketer is not any other cricketer but former Australian opener David Warner who has retired.
David Warner has said that he is ready to come out of retirement to play against India in the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 if Australia needs him in the opening slot. Warner had announced his retirement from Test cricket after the home Test against Pakistan this year.
David Warner ready to make a comeback?
37-year-old David Warner told Code Sports that he is always available, just pick up the phone. He said that he is always completely serious. He told that since their last Test match in February, Australian players have played only one Test match, so their preparation is the same as the other players. Warner said that he had retired for the right reasons but if the Australian team desperately needs him, he is ready. He is not going to back down from this.
Warner’s dominance continues in franchise cricket
This is not the first time that David Warner has expressed his desire to withdraw from retirement. Even 3 months ago, Warner had posted on Instagram that he wants to play in the Champions Trophy. However, just a few days later, Australia’s Chief Selector George Bailey dashed Warner’s hopes. He had said that David Warner’s name will not be considered for the Champions Trophy to be played in Pakistan next year.
David Warner may have retired from international cricket but he is still playing franchise cricket. In the month of August, Warner was seen playing in the Max60 Caribbean 2024 League. Earlier he had participated in the Global T20 Canada League. However, it has not been decided yet for which team he will play in IPL 2025.
