Yashasvi Jaiswal has set a string of records with the bat on the third day of the first Test match being played in Perth. India’s young opening batsman Yashasvi Jaiswal had a very bad debut in Australia. In the very first innings of the Perth Test, Jaiswal returned to the pavilion without opening his account. What happened after this has now been recorded in history. Taking a lesson from the failure of the first innings, Yashasvi Jaiswal batted explosively in the second innings and scored a brilliant century.
Jaiswal completed his century in 205 balls in the first Test match against Australia. In this way, he became the third batsman for India to score a century while playing his first Test match in Australia. Earlier, only two batsmen had scored a century in their first Test match in Australia. This has happened in Australia after 47 years when an Indian batsman has scored a brilliant century while playing his first Test on Australian soil. Earlier, Sunil Gavaskar had done this in the Test match played in Brisbane in 1977. At the same time, this feat was first done by Motaganahalli Jayasimha in 1968.
Jaiswal scored 150 runs
Thanks to Jaiswal’s century, the Indian team increased its total lead against the host team to 321 runs by scoring 275 runs for one wicket in the second innings till lunch on the third day in the Perth Test. India lost the only wicket in the morning session on the third day in the form of Lokesh Rahul (77). Even after lunch, Jaiswal’s brilliant game continued and he soon completed his 150 runs. He touched the figure of 150 runs in 275 balls. In this way, he reached the level of Javed Miandad, Graeme Smith and Sachin Tendulkar in the list of batsmen who scored the most 150+ scores in Tests before the age of 23.
