Indian Cricket Team

Indian Team In WTC Points Table: The Indian team has made it to the finals of the World Test Championship twice so far and had to face defeat both times. Once New Zealand and once Australia broke their dream of winning the title. Even in the current WTC cycle, Team India is performing well under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma and is a strong contender to reach the finals. But in the second Test being held in Kanpur, rain has increased the problems of Team India.

Only 35 overs were played on the first day

Team India has taken a 1-0 lead in the two-Test series between India and Bangladesh. Team India had won the first match in a spectacular fashion by 280 runs. Now the second match between the two teams is being held at Green Park Stadium in Kanpur. But rain remains the big villain here. Due to this reason, the match started late and only 35 overs could be played on the first day and Bangladesh team scored 107 runs at the loss of three wickets in 35 overs.

rain spoiled the game

Then the next day it rained in the morning and the covers remained on. But the ground was wet and due to bad weather and lack of clear light, play could not be played even on the second day. On the third day the rain stopped by 8 am. But the ground was wet and could not be dried. The umpires were not satisfied that the match could take place. For this reason the third day’s play was also cancelled. There is a possibility of rain on the fourth day also. It has been three days since the test match and till now only 35 overs have been played. In such a situation, even if play is played on the fourth and fifth day, there is every possibility of the Kanpur Test being a draw. Because it is difficult to get the result in the remaining two days.

In case the match is drawn, Team India will suffer loss in PCT.

The Indian team is at the first position in the points table of the World Test Championship 2023-25. The team has played a total of 10 matches so far, out of which it has won 7 and lost 2. One match has been a draw. Team India’s PCT is 71.67. Now if the second test match between India vs Bangladesh gets drawn, then the Indian team will have played 11 matches and will have two draws in its account and its PCT will be around 68.18. In case of a draw in the test match, the Indian team will remain at number one, but there will be a loss in PCT.
