Indian women’s cricket team
Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 is being organized in United Arab Emirates i.e. UAE. The 15th match of the tournament was played in Sharjah in which New Zealand defeated Sri Lanka by 8 wickets and took a strong step towards the semi-finals. After this spectacular win, New Zealand is still in third place in Group A but has made tremendous improvement in its net run rate. India is at second position. Team India now has to play its last group stage match against Australia who are in great form.
India faces trouble
Batting first in this match, Sri Lankan team scored 115 runs losing 5 wickets in 20 overs. In response, the New Zealand team achieved the target of 116 runs by losing 8 wickets in just 17.3 overs on the basis of Georgia Plimmer’s half-century. With this spectacular win, New Zealand has increased its net run rate from -0.050 to +0.282. At the same time, the net run rate of Team India is +0.576.
Both New Zealand and India now have 4 points each but due to better net run rate, Team India is at second place in Group-A after top-ranked Australia. New Zealand is at third position while Pakistan team is at fourth position. At the same time, Sri Lanka is already out of the race for the semi-finals after losing its fourth consecutive match.
The semi-final battle was exciting
Australia remains on top in Group A by winning 3 consecutive matches. Now Australia will face India in its last match. If Team India has to go to the semi-finals, it will have to defeat Australia under any circumstances. Also have to pray for New Zealand’s defeat. New Zealand will face Pakistan in their last group stage match. Looking at the excellent form in which the Kiwi team is, New Zealand’s chances of victory seem high. If India loses its last group stage then the doors to the semi-finals will be closed for it. And the New Zealand team will reach the semi-finals after defeating Pakistan.
