Earlier the umpire had not given out but Rest of India captain Ruturaj Gaikwad took a review and the replay made it clear that the ball had touched Rahane’s gloves. In this way Rahane’s captaincy innings ended at 97 runs. Ajinkya Rahane along with Sarfaraz made a brilliant partnership of 131 runs for the 5th wicket, due to which Mumbai team’s score could cross 250. Before this, Shreyas Iyer was out after scoring a half-century. Iyer played an innings of 57 runs in 86 balls with the help of 6 fours and 2 sixes.

Let us tell you, Rahane has been out of Team India for more than a year. He played his last Test match in July last year against West Indies at Port of Spain. Since then he has been out of the team due to poor form. Since young players are being given preference in Team India, now their return also seems difficult. In August this year, Rahane participated in the ODI Cup 2024 for Leicestershire in England. During this period, he scored 378 runs in 10 matches at an average of 42. He was the 11th highest run scorer in the tournament. After Irani Cup, Rahane will be seen playing for Mumbai in Ranji Trophy.
