India vs South Africa 2nd T20: The Indian team had to face defeat by 3 wickets in the second T20 match against South Africa. With this, the African team leveled the series at 1-1. Indian batsmen performed very poorly in this match. Team India had to pay the consequences by losing the match. Batting first, the Indian team could score only 124. After this, Africa achieved this target in the 19th over itself. Spin bowlers Varun Chakraborty and Ravi Bishnoi tried to make a comeback, but a decision by Suryakumar Yadav changed the course of the match.
Varun Chakraborty took 5 wickets in the match
Spinner Varun Chakraborty performed brilliantly against South Africa. He took 5 wickets in the match and gave only 17 runs in his quota of four overs. Apart from this, Ravi Bishnoi also took 1 wicket for 21 runs in four overs. Both these players kept a check on the African batsmen and did not allow them to take free strokes. Lost 7 wickets for 86 runs and were struggling to win the match. In such a situation, everyone expected that Team India would win the match from here. The spinners were getting a lot of help from the pitch and the Indian spinners were dominating.
Only one over was bowled by Akshar Patel
But then captain Suryakumar Yadav took a big decision and got the 17th, 18th and 19th overs bowled by faster bowlers and from here the course of the match changed. While superstar spinner Akshar Patel had three overs left. Whereas in the earlier match, Akshar had bowled only one over and in that he had given two runs. In such a situation, the biggest question is why Surya made Akshar bowl only one over on a spin friendly wicket? Whereas fast bowler Arshdeep Singh proved to be expensive and he gave away 41 runs in his four overs. On the other hand, Avesh Khan gave 23 runs in 3 overs. Surya’s decision to bowl with fast bowlers in the death overs proved costly for Team India and India had to face defeat.
Hardik Pandya scored the most runs
Apart from poor captaincy, Suryakumar Yadav also flopped badly with batting. He scored only four runs in 9 balls in the match. Hardik Pandya scored the maximum 39 runs for Team India. Whereas Akshar Patel contributed 27 runs. Tilak Verma scored 20 runs. Hardik stayed on the wicket till the end and it was because of him that Team India was successful in scoring 124 runs.
