Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has announced a 15-member squad for the 3-match ODI series against Afghanistan. The surprising thing is that Shakib Al Hasan and Liton Das have not been included in the team. Meanwhile, amid rumors of resignation, Nazmul Shanto has once again been made the captain of the team. Bangladesh cricket team will tour UAE for a three-match ODI series against Afghanistan later this month. On this tour, Bangladesh team will play three ODI matches at Sharjah Cricket Stadium on 6, 9 and 11 November.
Shakib Al Hasan not part of the team
Experienced Bangladeshi all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan’s playing in this series was considered doubtful due to his ongoing differences with the board. The issue started when he refused to play the farewell Test at home due to security concerns. Apart from Shakib Al Hasan, Liton Das has also not got a place in the team. Liton Das was ignored due to health reasons. He has still not recovered from viral fever, due to which he was kept out of the second Test against South Africa. Anamul Haq, Taijul Islam are recovering from shoulder injuries while Hasan Mahmood is also not part of the squad.
Nahid Rana will make ODI debut
Nahid Rana, who has impressed so far in his short Test career, has also been included in the ODI squad. 22-year-old pacer Nahid Rana will debut in the ODI format. Famous for his excellent pace and bounce, Rana has taken 26 wickets in List A cricket at an average of 16.46. Mehdi Hasan has been made the vice-captain, while Taskin Ahmed and Mustafizur Rahman have also been included in the squad.
