The moment for which everyone was waiting has arrived. Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 is going to start in UAE today i.e. from 3rd October in which the first match will be played between Bangladesh and Scotland. UAE is hosting this mega event for the first time. The tournament was initially scheduled to be held in Bangladesh but due to political turmoil and violence there, the ICC event had to be shifted out of Bangladesh to UAE. Bangladesh will be led by Nigar Sultana in the T20 World Cup where they will aim to put behind their past poor performances in ICC events, while Scotland will be participating in the tournament for the first time. Pakistan will face Sri Lanka in the second match of the tournament. Both these matches will be played in Sharjah.
Sharjah Cricket Stadium Pitch Report
Many T20 matches have been organized in Sharjah, but surprisingly a women’s T20I match will be played on this ground for the first time since November 2017. It was the home ground of the Pakistan women’s team from 2015 to 2017. They played 10 matches at this ground and won only three of them. In total, 48 T20 matches have been played at this ground and the average first innings score is around 144 runs. The pitch here is generally slow and it is expected that a score of 130-140 runs will be good on this ground.
