The IPL 2025 mega auction is expected to take place later this year. Everyone’s eyes are fixed on this. The IPL Governing Council has already announced the retention policy. In this, all 10 teams can retain 6-6 players. If a franchise retains all 6 players then they will not get the RTM option at the time of the auction. Whereas if a franchise retains 3 players, then they will get a chance to take back 3 players from RTM. A new rule has also come regarding foreign players. If any foreign player does not register himself for the Mega Player Auction, he will be banned from the next year’s Player Auction as well. If a foreign player leaves the team in the middle of the season without any reason, he will be banned for two years. Now the statement of Sunrisers Hyderabad captain has come to light on this.
Hyderabad had taken the final on its own
Pat Cummins was bought by Sunrisers Hyderabad team for Rs 20.50 crore. He became the second most expensive player in the history of IPL. After this, under his captaincy, the Hyderabad team made it to the finals of IPL 2024. At present, Cummins’ entire focus is on the five-Test series against India. Pat Cummins said that the rules have been slightly changed. But I don’t know whether it would have had any effect on me in the past or not, I have never withdrawn my name after an auction. This is another reason to think about IPL.
Priority is to play for Australia: Cummins
Pat Cummins said that Test cricket is absolutely the No. 1 priority and then there is the World Cup. I use these to plan the rest of my schedule. I’m not getting any younger, so these things have always been a consideration, and will become even more so moving forward. But needless to say, playing cricket for Australia, especially Test matches, is my job and priority. Cummins has played a total of 58 matches in the IPL so far, in which he has taken 63 wickets. Apart from this, 515 runs have been scored.
