The first test match is being played between Pakistan and England in Multan. On the fourth day of this match, Harry Brook created history by scoring a triple century. Even though Brook’s teammate Joe Root could not score a triple century, he put England in a strong position by scoring more than 250 runs. England declared their first innings on the score of 823/7 runs. In this way, the England team became the first team to score more than 800 runs in an innings of a Test match after 1958. For England, Harry Brook scored 317 runs in 322 balls with the help of 22 fours and 3 sixes and broke Virender Sehwag’s record of 309 runs. Sehwag had played an inning of 309 runs in the year 2004 in Multan itself. Apart from Brook, Joe Root scored 261 runs in 375 balls with the help of 17 fours.
Many records were shattered at once
There was a record partnership of 454 runs for the fourth wicket between Harry Brook and Joe Root. This is the highest partnership record for any wicket in Test cricket for England. Not only this, Joe Root and Harry Brook together made a unique record which was seen only twice in the history of Test cricket before today.
In fact, this has happened only for the third time in the 147-year history of Test cricket when two batsmen scored more than 260 runs in an innings. This happened for the first time in Test in the year 1958 when Gary Sobers of West Indies scored unbeaten 365 and Conrad Hunte scored 260 runs. After this, this scene was seen in the Test after 48 years. In the year 2006, Sri Lanka’s Mahela Jayawardene (374) and Kumar Sangakkara (287) had achieved this great feat against South Africa. Now after 16 years, England’s batsmen have done this feat.
