Najmul Hossain Shanto On Shakib Al Hasan: Bangladesh team had to face defeat by 280 runs in the first test match against India. Bangladesh’s star all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan did not perform well in this match. He conceded 129 runs in 21 overs and failed to take a single wicket. This is the first time that he could not achieve any success despite conceding so many runs in both innings of the test. This was the fifth time in his career that he missed taking a wicket despite bowling at least 20 overs in a test match.
Shakib is trying to get back in form: Nazmul Hussain
After the match, when Bangladesh captain Nazmul Hussain Shanto was asked about Shakib’s place in the team, he said that as a captain, honestly, I assess the hard work of the player. Shakib bhai is trying his best to regain his form. It is important for me to see if he is struggling enough to make a comeback. What is his attitude towards the team and how much is he ready to give to the team.
Shakib bowled only five overs in the first innings
Nazmul Hussain Shanto defended his decision of not bowling Shakib much in the first innings and said that looking at the performance of our three fast bowlers, I did not feel much need for him in the first innings. Mehdi Hasan Miraz was also doing well during this time. It was my plan to use the fast bowlers more. We took six wickets quickly in the first innings. Shakib bowled only 8 overs in the first innings.
Nazmul Hussain Shanto, who contributed 82 runs in the second innings of the match against India, hoped that the team would make a strong comeback in the second Test to be played in Kanpur from September 27. He said that India has good bowlers in both fast and spin departments but we really have to focus on our strong side and believe in ourselves how we can contribute to the team. I believe that there are a lot of experienced players in our team and I hope they will make a strong comeback.
