IND vs AUS: The day-night test match between India and Australia started from December 6 in Adelaide. Team India’s batting was very poor on the first day. Australia bowled out Team India for 180 runs thanks to the lethal bowling of Mitchell Starc. Mitchell Starc took 6 wickets for 48 runs. Nitish Reddy scored the highest 42 runs for India. KL Rahul contributed 37 runs. Three batsmen could not even open their account in the Indian innings. Young opening batsman Yashasvi Jaiswal became the victim of Mitchell Starc on the very first ball of the innings. Apart from this, Starc showed Harshit Rana the way to the pavilion on a duck. Apart from these, Jasprit Bumrah also returned to the pavilion without opening his account.
Bumrah made a shameful record
Jasprit Bumrah got out for a duck on his birthday. In this way a shameful record was registered in the name of Bumrah. This is the fourth time in the history of Indian Test cricket that a player has been out for a duck on his birthday. Earlier, Syed Kirmani was out for a duck on his birthday in the year 1978 in a Test match against West Indies. After this, in the year 1996 in the Nottingham Test, Venkatapathy Raju failed to open the account on his birthday in the Test match against England. After this, in the year 2018, on the occasion of his birthday, Indian fast bowler Ishant Sharma returned to the pavilion after getting out for a duck against England in the Southampton Test match and now this shameful record has been registered in the name of birthday boy Bumrah.
Bumrah created history
The first day of the day-night test match being played in Adelaide was in the name of host Australia. In response to India’s 180 runs, Australia had put 86 runs on the scoreboard after losing 1 wicket by the end of the first day’s play. Nathan McSweeney returned unbeaten after scoring 38 runs and Marnus Labuschagne returned unbeaten after scoring 20 runs. The only blow to Australia was given by Jasprit Bumrah in the form of Usman Khawaja. Khawaja returned to the pavilion in the 11th over after scoring 13 runs. With the taking of this one wicket, Jasprit Bumrah completed his 50 Test wickets in the year 2024. Bumrah is the third Indian bowler to do so. Before him, only Kapil Dev and Zaheer Khan had done this. The last time Zaheer Khan took 51 wickets in Test cricket was in the year 2002. That means after 22 years an Indian fast bowler has achieved a special position.
