Shahid Afridi: Champions Trophy 2025 is to be organized on Pakistani soil and the Pakistani team is making every effort to get it organized here. But BCCI has refused to send Team India to Pakistan. India can play in the Champions Trophy on the hybrid model. This has created a big crisis over the holding of the Champions Trophy. Because the Pakistani team is not ready for the hybrid model and it is almost impossible for the Champions Trophy to take place without India.
Change in Afridi’s attitude
Former Pakistan player Shahid Afridi is always known for his flamboyant statements. He has also given absurd statements many times regarding Kashmir and India. But now his stance on Champions Trophy seems to be loosening and he is talking about coming together between the two countries. There has been a change in his attitude.
Afridi talked about forgetting differences
Posting on the social media platform X, Shahid Afridi wrote that cricket is at a turning point and is probably facing one of its biggest challenges since the 1970s. Now the time has come to forget the differences and unite for the sake of sports. If countries divided in history can come together in the Olympic spirit, why can’t we do the same for cricket—and the Champions Trophy?
I hope to see every team in Pakistan for the Champions Trophy 2025. Every team will experience our warmth and hospitality. It will take unforgettable memories beyond the field. Our job as sports managers is to keep the ego in check and focus on its development.
Scored more than 8000 runs in ODI for Pakistan
Shahid Afridi scored 8064 runs in 398 ODI matches for the Pakistani team, in which he scored 6 centuries. Apart from this, he also did wonders with bowling and was successful in taking 395 wickets. In 99 T20 International matches, he has taken 1416 runs and 98 wickets. He has also played 27 test matches for the Pakistani team. His role was always that of a hitter and he was known for his explosive batting when he came down the order.
