Pakistan Cricket Board i.e. PCB will host the ICC Champions Trophy tournament from 19 February to 9 March in the year 2025. Preparations are going on very fast there, although the schedule of this important event has not been officially announced yet. The biggest reason for this is that there is no certainty whether the Indian team will go to Pakistan to play in this tournament or not. However, now BCCI has clarified the entire situation in this matter through its reply to ICC, in which it has also mentioned the guidelines received from the government.
Team India will not go to Pakistan to play its matches
The Board of Control for Cricket in India, or BCCI, has informed the ICC as per the news of ESPN Cricinfo that they have received advice from the Government of India not to send the team to play the match against Pakistan. In such a situation, ICC now has the option to conduct this tournament on a hybrid model, the way the Asia Cup matches were played in the year 2023, in which the Indian team played its matches in Sri Lanka. However, PCB Chief Mohsin Naqvi, in his statement given a few days ago, had completely ruled out the possibility of holding the ICC Champions Trophy on a hybrid model.
Indian team can play matches in UAE or Sri Lanka
After Team India’s decision not to go to Pakistan, the only option left is to organize the ICC Champions Trophy matches on a hybrid model, in which the Indian team can play its matches in UAE or Sri Lanka. In this situation, UAE seems to be a better option because it is closer to both the countries. ICC announces the schedule of its tournament when 100 days are left, but at present it seems difficult to announce the schedule on 11th November, 100 days before this tournament.
