Ever since Indian team’s star wicketkeeper batsman Rishabh Pant returned to international cricket after getting fully fit after being badly injured in a car accident, he has shown excellent performance with the bat. Meanwhile, all eyes are also on the mega player auction to be held before the season of Indian Premier League i.e. IPL to be played in the year 2025, for which the player retention policy is yet to be announced by the BCCI. After this, all the 10 franchises will announce the names of their retained players. However, in the meantime, according to the report of Cricbuzz, Delhi Capitals has decided to retain Rishabh Pant for IPL 2025.
Pant is the franchise’s top retention choice
After the end of the IPL 2024 season, there was speculation about Rishabh Pant that he could be a part of some other team next season, in which the name of Chennai Super Kings team was leading. At the same time, now all these speculations have been put to an end by the franchise, in which Delhi Capitals sources made it clear in their statement to Cricbuzz that Rishabh Pant is the top retention choice from the franchise. The decision on this was taken after a meeting between Rishabh Pant and team co-owner Parth Jindal in Mumbai. Pant was getting Rs 16 crore from Delhi Capitals till last season, which is now believed to be increased.
Apart from Rishabh, Delhi Capitals can also retain Akshar and Kuldeep
While Delhi Capitals have decided to retain Rishabh Pant for the next season, they are now waiting for the retention policy from BCCI, in which if they get the permission to retain 5 players, then the franchise can decide to retain Kuldeep Yadav along with Akshar Patel. Apart from this, Delhi Capitals can retain Jack Fraser McGurk and Tristan Stubbs as foreign players.
