In this third ODI match played in Perth, the host Australia team, batting first, got bundled out for just 140 runs in 31.5 overs. For Pakistan, Shaheen Afridi and Naseem Shah took 3 wickets each, while Haris Rauf, who took the wicket in the last match, took 2 wickets. After this, Pakistan achieved the target of 141 runs by losing 2 wickets. The opening pair of Sam Ayub and Abdullah Shafiq made a partnership of 84 runs for the first wicket. Mohammad Rizwan returned unbeaten after scoring 30 and Babar Azam 28 runs.
This victory of the Pakistan team can be gauged from the fact that the team has succeeded in winning the ODI series on Australian soil after 22 years. Earlier, Pakistan had defeated Australia 2-1 in the ODI series in 2002. If we look at it in terms of days, Pakistan has defeated Australia for the first time in an ODI series on Australian soil after 8,187 days. Not only this, Pakistan has succeeded in defeating Australia at home for only the second time in the history of its ODI cricket.
