Mahmudullah had taken retirement from Test from the year 2021 itself. Now he has also said goodbye to T20 format. But he will continue to play in the ODI format and will be eyeing a good performance for Bangladesh in the Champions Trophy 2025. He made his debut for Bangladesh in T20 International in 2007. After this, he played in 141 T20I matches and scored 2444 runs at a strike-rate of 117.74. Apart from this, he also has 43 wickets in his name in this format.

Mahmudullah’s T20 International career lasted 17 years and 41 days. Overall he had the third longest career in T20I cricket. Ahead of him are Bangladesh’s Sean Williams and Shakib Al Hasan. He also stood jointly at third place in terms of playing most T20I matches. He played a total of 141 T20 International matches. Ahead of him are Paul Sterling (147 T20I matches) and Rohit Sharma (159 T20I matches).
