AAP Accused in Alleged Liquor Scam; ED to Make Big Announcement in Court

In a significant development, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) informed the Delhi High Court on Tuesday that it would soon accuse the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in the ongoing investigation into the alleged liquor scam. This move could potentially lead to the first instance of a national party being named as an accused in a PMLA case.

During the hearing in the Delhi High Court, the ED’s counsel stated that new chargesheets would be filed against the accused, including the AAP. The counsel also mentioned that the investigation is still ongoing, and the trial is not expected to conclude soon.

The allegations stem from the 2021-22 liquor policy, where the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) alleges that liquor traders were given undue benefits in exchange for bribes, which were allegedly used to fund the Aam Aadmi Party’s campaign in the Goa Assembly elections. The ED has claimed that the scam money was also used to benefit the AAP.

AAP leaders, including former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, have been at the center of the controversy, with some already serving jail time. The party has vehemently denied the allegations, calling them politically motivated attempts to tarnish its image.

This new development marks a significant escalation in the ongoing investigation, with potentially far-reaching implications for the AAP. The party has been under scrutiny for some time now, with several of its leaders facing charges related to the alleged scam.

The ED’s announcement in court has once again brought the issue to the forefront, fueling discussions and debates on the matter. It remains to be seen how this latest development will impact the AAP and its leaders in the coming days.
