Sarfaraz Khan created a new history by scoring a double century on the second day in the Irani Cup being played in Lucknow. Sarfaraz became the first Mumbai batsman to score a double century in the Irani Cup. He played an unbeaten inning of 222 runs, on the basis of which Ranji champion Mumbai team managed to score 537 runs in the first innings. Sarfaraz hit 25 fours and 4 sixes in his innings and scored his 15th century in first class cricket. With this, he again staked his claim for the middle order in the Indian Test team.
With this double century, Sarfaraz also fulfilled the promise he made to his family. Sarfaraz made this big revelation after scoring a double century. Sarfaraz told that after his younger brother Mushir Khan was out of the Irani Cup match against Rest of India due to a road accident, he had promised his family that he would score a double century.
Sarfaraz kept his promise
Sarfaraz Khan’s younger brother Musheer was injured in a road accident when he was going to Lucknow with his father Naushad Khan in a car to participate in the Irani Cup. During this, his car collided with the divider and overturned in which the young Mumbai batsman got injured. Sarfaraz said after the third day’s play that this week was very emotional for him. He had promised his family and teammates that if he settled at the crease, he would score a double century. One for him and one for his brother. Sarfaraz said that if Musheer had been a part of this match, Abbu would have been very happy. But unfortunately he met with an accident. In such a situation, he thought that he would try to score a double century in this match.
Musheer will take time to recover
Sarfaraz further gave a big update regarding his brother’s health. He told that it will take two-three months for Musheer to recover completely. Last month, Musheer, playing for India B in the Duleep Trophy, played a brilliant inning of 181 runs in the first innings against India A.
