Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Thursday launched ‘Nandini’ brand products of Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF) in Delhi-NCR. To establish a foothold in Delhi-NCR, the prices of Nandini’s products have been kept lower than rival companies like Amul and Mother Dairy. From Friday, the cooperative institution will retail four types of products made from cow’s milk – curd and buttermilk. Their prices will be slightly lower and they will compete with established giant companies like Amul and Mother Dairy.
What will be the price of milk and curd in Delhi-NCR?
In Delhi-NCR, cow milk will be sold at Rs 56 per liter, full cream milk at Rs 67 per liter, double toned milk at Rs 61 per liter, toned milk at Rs 55 per liter and curd at Rs 74 per kg. Speaking to the media after launching the products, Siddaramaiah said, “We have extra milk in the state. “KMF, in collaboration with Mandya Milk Union, will market three to four lakh liters of extra milk daily in Delhi-NCR.”
KMF collects 1 crore liters of milk every day
KMF currently collects 1 crore liters of milk daily, of which local consumption is 60 lakh litres. This leaves 40 lakh liters of extra milk for expansion into new markets. However, the Chief Minister acknowledged the challenges of delivering milk over a distance of over 2500 km, which takes 50 to 54 hours. He said that there is a need to find new markets for extra milk and gradually KMF will be able to sell 5 to 6 lakh liters of milk daily in Delhi-NCR.
Special attention will be paid to the quality of milk and curd
KMF Chairman L. B. P. Bhimnayak said that the quality of milk will remain intact during transportation. He said KMF has already partnered with 40 sellers in the Delhi-NCR region to facilitate sales.
