Ramanand Sagar’s serial ‘Ramayana’ is one of the most successful mythological serials in the history of Indian television. Late actor Arvind Trivedi played the character of ‘Ravana’ in this serial and gained a lot of fame with this character. Arvind Trivedi played the character of Lankadhipati Ravana i.e. Lankesh in such a way that even today when Ravana is mentioned, his face crosses people’s eyes. Although there are many other actors who have played the character of ‘Ravana’ in TV shows and films, but what Arvind Trivedi had, is not found in anyone else. With the power of his acting, he brought the negative image alive on screen. Arvind Trivedi, who started his career with Gujarati theatre, was made a favorite of TV viewers across the country and the world by the serial ‘Ramayana’ which started on Doordarshan in 1986.

However, in real life Arvind Trivedi was not at all like the character he played in Ramayana. He was a great devotee of Lord Shri Ram in real life. Arvind Trivedi was born in Indore city of Madhya Pradesh. Due to his character in Ramayana, the actor had to abuse Lord Ram many times during the shooting. Due to his character, he also suffered some mental stress, for this he used to apologize to Lord Ram every day. The actor himself had revealed this in several TV interviews.

On one hand, this serial gained popularity for actor Arun Govil as Ram and Deepika Chikhalia as Mother Sita, while on the other hand, actor Arvind Trivedi was also appreciated as Ravana. Every dialogue spoken by him became immortal forever. Through Ramayana, he left such an impression on the audience with his acting that even today people see him in the role of Ravana. His body language, loud voice and way of laughing were amazing.

When Ramayana was telecast again on TV during the Corona period, once again Arvind Trivedi’s laughter echoed among the audience. However, on 6 October 2021, Arvind Trivedi died of a heart attack. He breathed his last at the age of 83 and said goodbye to this world. He worked in hundreds of films and TV serials during his career, but his most popular character was ‘Ravana’. He had also shown his skills in politics.
