On its social media post, PIB asked, ‘Have you also been called by the Telecom Regulatory Authority and told that due to abnormal behavior of the phone, your mobile number will be switched off soon.’

Tagging TRAI in its post, PIB made it clear that calls are never made to mobile users by TRAI. Not only this, PIB also clarified that TRAI does not send any message to any telecom users related to number closure.

It was told by the Department of Telecommunications that beware of calls coming from TRAI regarding disconnecting your network. This is a new kind of scam.

Government asked to be careful with these numbers

Recently, the government has asked mobile users to be alert about calls coming from certain numbers. Some numbers have been disclosed to mobile users by the government and they have been advised not to receive calls from these. The government said that if you get calls starting with +77, +85, +89, +86, +87 and +84 codes, do not receive them.
