Wellington: Three climbers from the US and Canada who planned to climb New Zealand’s highest mountain peak ‘Aoraki’ have failed to return. Now these climbers are being reported missing. Officials have given information about this on Tuesday. Police said that on Saturday these people went to start climbing the mountain, but till Monday no information was received about them. The three climbers did not reach the predetermined location after climbing, after which they were declared missing.

Heavy rain and snowfall forecast

Police said that after a few hours, searchers found some climbing equipment believed to belong to the three climbers. But, during the search nothing could be found about the three climbers. The search operation could not begin on Tuesday due to bad weather conditions in Aoraki, also known as Mount Cook. There is forecast of heavy rain and snowfall here.

According to the website of the American Mountain Guides Association, Kurt Blair (56) of Colorado and Carlos Romero (50) of California are certified guides in high mountain areas. New Zealand police did not name the Canadian climber in their statement, but stressed the need to inform his family.
