The government does not even have the money to pay the electricity bill and now it is not easy to take a loan. But amidst all this, Bangladesh opened a front against India to hide the story of its destruction.
You must have heard this saying a lot – ‘Make a hole in the plate in which you eat’. Bangladesh has created a new tune of hatred towards India these days. Bangladesh, which was once called the rising economy of South Asia, is today trapped in economic crisis due to its own wrong decisions and weak leadership. The situation has become so bad that foreign exchange reserves are on the verge of depletion. The government does not even have the money to pay the electricity bill and now it is not easy to take a loan. But amidst all this, Bangladesh opened a front against India to hide the story of its destruction. Now the situation is that Bangladesh has filed a petition in its High Court to ban Indian TV channels and YouTube content. In the last few years, India had provided economic and strategic help to Bangladesh through many mega projects.
Relations between India and Bangladesh remained strong during the Sheikh Hasina government. But as soon as Mohammad Yunus government came to power, the situation changed completely. Bangladesh alleged that Indian TV channels and YouTubers were tarnishing the image of their country. According to Indian Express news, a writ petition has been filed in the High Court of Bangladesh, requesting a ban on broadcasting of all Indian television channels in the country.
Advocate Ekhlas Uddin Bhuiyan, who filed the petition, confirmed the development on Monday. The case is expected to be heard by a high court bench of Justice Fatema Najib and Justice Sikdar Mahmudur Razi, he said. The petition specifically sought a direction under Section 29 of the Cable Television Networks Operation Act 2006 to ban the broadcasting of Indian TV channels. It also sought clarification as to why rules should not be issued to ban these channels in Bangladesh.
