François Bayrou elected as the new Prime Minister of France, know how his political journey has been

François Bayrou and Emmanuel Macron.

Paris: French President Emmanuel Macron on Friday named François Bayrou as the country’s Prime Minister. Let us tell you that France’s right-wing and left-wing MPs voted together on a historic no-confidence motion last week, due to which Prime Minister Michel Barnier and his cabinet members had to resign. 73-year-old Bayreu, an important partner in Macron’s centrist coalition, has held an important position in French politics for decades. His political experience is being considered important in efforts to restore stability in the country, because no single party has got majority in the National Assembly.

Bayru also faces no less challenges

Let us tell you that last week Macron had expressed his resolve to remain in office till the end of his tenure in 2027. A statement issued by Macron’s office said that Bayru ‘has been entrusted with the task of forming a new government.’ It is expected that Bayru will hold talks with leaders of different parties in the coming days to select new ministers. This task looks quite challenging because Macron’s centrist coalition no longer has a majority in Parliament and Bayru’s cabinet will have to rely on moderate MPs from both the left and right parties to remain in power. Some conservatives are also expected to be part of the new government.

Bayru was accused of embezzling money

Bayru was recently acquitted in a case involving embezzlement of European Parliament funds. Bayru became popular among the French public when he served as Minister of Education in the government from 1993 to 1997. Not only this, he was also a presidential candidate thrice in 2002, 2007 and 2012. Bayeru leads the centrist Democratic Movement, known as Modem. He founded it in 2007. Bayrou supported Macron when he ran for president in 2017 and became a key partner in the French president’s centrist coalition.
