Gaza Strip: There is news of Israeli army occupying Kamal Adwan Hospital in Gaza. The hospital director claims that Israeli soldiers have forcibly evacuated the hospital. The hospital is said to be one of the last remaining medical facilities in the northern Gaza Strip. The director of Kamal Adwan Hospital said Israeli soldiers on Friday ordered some medical staff to evacuate the hospital and detained some. Later several parts of the hospital facilities were set on fire.
Israel has long said that Kamal Adwan is a Hamas stronghold, where militants have been active. “Israeli troops are conducting targeted operations in the area, while minimizing harm to uninvolved civilians, patients and medical personnel,” the IDF said in a statement. In a separate statement the IDF acknowledged that “a small fire in an empty building inside the hospital is under control.” But the army has completely rejected the claim that the fire was caused by IDF firing.
Gaza Health Ministry’s different claim
In response to the Israeli military, Gaza’s health ministry said at a press conference on Friday that a fire was still burning inside the hospital. Kamal Adwan Hospital is one of the last functioning medical facilities north of Gaza, which has been under Israeli air and ground attack for months. On Friday, the IDF evacuated the entire medical staff and displaced persons, said hospital director Hussam Abu Safia. After this, they started burning all the operating departments of the hospital, while people remained inside. (Input-Washington Post)
