Two other drones fired from Lebanon were shot down by air defense forces, setting off sirens in the Tel Aviv area. However, the third struck a building in Caesarea, causing a massive explosion.

A drone launched from Lebanon exploded near the private residence of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Caesarea, south of Haifa. The prime minister’s spokesman said Netanyahu and his wife were not present at the time of the attack, which came two days after Israel killed Hamas chief Yahya Sinwar in Gaza. Two other drones fired from Lebanon were shot down by air defense forces, setting off sirens in the Tel Aviv area. However, the third fell on a building in Caesarea, causing a powerful explosion.

Saudi outlet Al-Hadath claimed that part of the building was damaged in the drone strike. However, no casualties were reported. According to Israeli media reports, the drone flew about 70 kilometers over Lebanon before hitting the building in Caesarea. It is noteworthy that the Israeli army, which has been attacking the underground bases of Hamas for the last one year, is now targeting the tunnels and other bases of the extremist group Hezbollah in southern Lebanon. Hamas attacked Israel last year, after which Israel retaliated in Gaza and the war started.

Now Israel has said that its main objective is to ensure that no such attack or infiltration takes place from its northern border. Israeli forces discovered a tunnel system containing weapons caches and rocket launchers during a search operation in the dense forests of southern Lebanon over the past two weeks. Israel claims that these tunnels can cause direct danger to nearby communities. Israel said its offensive included “limited, localized and targeted ground strikes” aimed at destroying Hezbollah infrastructure so that thousands of displaced Israelis could return to their homes.
