India Defense Export: India is moving rapidly towards becoming self-reliant in the field of defence. India is not only becoming self-reliant but is also playing an active role in exporting defense equipment to different countries of the world. India sells defense equipment to many major countries like the US, France, Russia and other European countries. In the last few years, India has made its mark in the global arms market by increasing the quality and production capacity of its defense products. India has sold arms worth a total of Rs 21 thousand crores to many countries in 2023-24. These include countries like America, France and Armenia.
India is exporting arms to 100 countries
Indian government and private companies are exporting arms to about 100 countries around the world. Apart from normal weapons, these also include complete weapon systems, such as BrahMos supersonic cruise missile, Dornier-228 aircraft, artillery guns, radar, Akash missile, Pinaka rockets and armored vehicles.

This country bought the most weapons
The largest importer of arms from India is Armenia. Recently, Armenia, embroiled in conflict with Azerbaijan, has purchased arms from India on a large scale. Armenia has purchased Akash air defense missile systems, Pinaka multi-launch rocket systems and 155mm artillery guns from India.
India’s defense trade is increasing
Talking about America, it has not directly purchased any weapons from India, but has definitely purchased components of some things. According to media reports, America and France have imported the most defense equipment from India. These countries have shown interest in some important products of the Indian defense industry such as light combat aircraft equipment, missile systems and other defense equipment. Apart from America, France and Armenia, many other European countries and some countries in Africa have also shown interest in Indian defense equipment.

Investment and development in defense industry is getting a boost
The way India is progressing rapidly in the field of defence, the demand for Indian defense products may increase further in the future. Government campaigns like ‘Make in India’ and ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ are promoting investment and development in the Indian defense industry. This will further strengthen India’s export of defense equipment. India’s growing strength in global defense supplies is not only helpful for India’s economic growth but is also important for peace and stability.
