Several buildings in front of Rafik Hariri University Hospital on the outskirts of southern Beirut were also destroyed in the attack. The Israeli army said without giving details that it had attacked Hezbollah positions. The army did not target the hospital.

Hezbollah fired rockets

Hezbollah also retaliated by firing several rockets into central Israel. These attacks by Hezbollah did not cause any damage. The attack came hours before US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken arrived in the area on a mission to restart Gaza ceasefire talks. The Israeli army said that rockets were fired from Lebanon into Israel and most of them were destroyed in the air by the air defense system.
