Tokyo: There was a stampede after a bomb attack on the headquarters of Japan’s ruling party on Saturday. As soon as there was a loud bang, people started running here and there. In this case, a suspect threw several bombs simultaneously, after which he was arrested. Public broadcaster ‘NHK’ and other Japanese media gave this information. However, it is a matter of relief that till now there is no news of anyone getting injured in this attack. Tokyo police declined to comment on the incident, saying the investigation was still ongoing.
News reports state that the accused was arrested on the spot. It was told that the accused had rammed his car into a nearby fence. It is not yet clear what was the motive behind the attack. The ruling ‘Liberal Democratic Party’ is rapidly losing popularity among the common people due to dubious financing and tax evasion scandals. The party also refused to comment regarding the attack. Voting for the lower house of the country’s parliament will take place on October 27. The ruling party has officially withdrawn support from some of the tainted leaders but they are contesting the elections as independent candidates.
Former PM of Japan was murdered in an attack 2 years ago
The ‘Liberal Democrats’ have been in power in Japan for a long time. It played a big role in making Japan an economic superpower from the devastation of World War II. Former Prime Minister of Japan Shinzo Abe was assassinated in 2022 while he was giving a speech campaigning for a ruling party candidate in the parliamentary elections. The killer used a handmade gun and said he was angry at Abe because his mother had given all the family’s money to the Unification Church and he considered Abe to be associated with that church. (AP)
