According to the trends so far, the ruling BJP-led Mahayuti alliance looks set to retain power in Maharashtra and is leading in 225 out of 288 assembly seats. On the other hand, the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi is faltering and its candidates are leading in only 47 seats as per the initial trends. Signaling a landslide victory for the ruling alliance, various TV channels said the Mahayuti was ahead in 212 seats and the MVA in 68 constituencies when counting of votes began on Saturday morning in the November 20 elections.

According to ECI data, in Mahayuti, BJP candidates are leading on 111 seats, Shiv Sena on 58 seats and NCP on 35 seats. In MVA, Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar) candidates are leading on 9 seats, Congress on 20 and Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) on 18 seats. In the first round of vote counting, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and his deputies Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar were leading in their respective assembly constituencies. Counting of votes in the Maharashtra Assembly elections began at 8 am on Saturday, with all eyes on the outcome of the fight between the ruling BJP-led Mahayuti alliance and the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) alliance.

In the ruling Mahayuti alliance, BJP contested 149 assembly seats, Shiv Sena fielded candidates in 81 seats and Ajit Pawar-led NCP fielded candidates in 59 constituencies. In the MVA alliance, Congress fielded 101 candidates, Shiv Sena (UBT) 95 and NCP (SP) 86 candidates.

Worli- Milind Deora is leading. If this trend continues, it will not only be a personal defeat for Aaditya Thackeray but will also prove to be a major setback for Shiv Sena (UBT).
Shivdi- Shiv Sena’s Ajay Vinayak Choudhary is leading from Bala Dagdu Nandgaonkar with 17659 votes.
Byculla-Shiv Sena’s Yamini Yashwant Jadhav is leading over Manoj Pandurang Jamsutkar with 18793 seats.
