New Delhi: ‘The ‘One Country One Election’ proposal has received the approval of the Union Cabinet. According to sources, this bill can be presented in Parliament only during the current winter session. Suggestions from all political parties will be taken regarding this bill. Later it will be passed by the Parliament. Earlier, the committee headed by former President Ram Nath Kovind had submitted the report related to One Country One Election to the government. According to sources, the Law Minister had proposed one country, one election in the cabinet. Union Home Minister Amit Shah had given detailed information about this proposal.
Under ‘One Country, One Election’, Lok Sabha and Assembly elections will be held simultaneously. The report of the committee headed by Ramnath Kovind has suggested that in the first step, Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha elections should be held simultaneously. The committee has recommended that local body elections should be held within 100 days of the simultaneous holding of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha elections.
