BJP starts preparations for internal elections in Tripura, appoints returning officer

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has appointed senior leader Samarendra Chandra Deb as the returning officer for its internal elections in Tripura. Party state president Rajeev Bhattacharjee gave this information on Monday.

Bhattacharjee told PTI that state general secretary Bipin Debbarma and MLA Malina Debnath have been appointed co-electoral officers for the organizational elections.

He said, “He has been appointed by the party’s national election officer K. Laxman did it.” He said that the schedule of BJP’s organizational elections in the state has not been decided yet.

Bhattacharya said he is currently in Delhi to attend a high-level meeting on organizational elections. BJP state unit’s media in-charge Sunit Sarkar said that the party’s membership campaign is going on in full swing and the party is ready for organizational elections from booth level to state level.

“Only those active members in BJP who have managed to register at least 50 ordinary members are eligible to be elected as presidents of booth, mandal (block), district and state committees,” he said. ‘

Chief Minister Manik Saha had said on Sunday, “The party’s membership drive has received good response.” Nearly six lakh people in the state have already registered their names as BJP members. Our target is 12 lakhs.
