Rijiju said that I have objection to Rahul Gandhi organizing ‘Constitution Conference’ in Nagpur, even though he does not respect the Constitution. He said that after insulting Dr. Baba Saheb Ambedkar and the Constitution, Congress has no right to talk about him.
Union Minister Kiren Rijiju on Thursday expressed ‘objection’ to Rahul Gandhi organizing a ‘Constitution Conference’ in Nagpur. He alleged that Congress MPs do not respect the Constitution. He said that I have objection to Rahul Gandhi organizing ‘Constitution Conference’ in Nagpur, whereas he does not respect the Constitution. He said that after insulting Dr. Baba Saheb Ambedkar and the Constitution, Congress has no right to talk about him.
Known as the ‘Father of the Constitution’, Dr. Ambedkar led the drafting committee that created the Constitution. Earlier, on Wednesday, Gandhi had carried a thin copy of the Constitution with a red cover to an election rally in Maharashtra’s Nagpur city. Criticizing Gandhi, BJP leader and Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said, “Gandhi holds the Constitution in one hand and promotes anarchy with the other hand.” He is influenced by urban Naxalites and anarchists who are pushing Congress towards a radical agenda.
In politics, red color is often associated with Marxist or Communist ideology. Congress Maharashtra chief Nana Patole hit back, saying the saffron party was ‘upset’ as Gandhi had organized his event near the BJP ‘stronghold’ in Nagpur. The headquarters of BJP’s ideological guru RSS is here. Moreover, two prominent members of the BJP, Fadnavis himself and Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, are from the city. Gandhi first started carrying a pocket-sized copy of the Constitution during the Lok Sabha elections, alleging that if Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s BJP-led government wins for the third consecutive time, it will ‘abolish’ the Constitution.
