President Draupadi Murmu on Tuesday addressed a joint sitting of both Houses of Parliament in the historic Central Hall of the Constitution House, marking the beginning of the year-long celebrations to commemorate 75 years of the adoption of the Constitution of India. The ‘Constitution Day’ event saw the presence of Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and other prominent leaders, demonstrating the significance of the occasion in India’s democratic journey.

President Murmu also released translated versions of the Constitution in Sanskrit and Maithili, and there will be a ceremonial reading of the Preamble led by the President. During his address in the Constituent Assembly, President Murmu stressed on the government’s initiatives aimed at upliftment of all sections of the society, especially the weaker sections. He noted significant progress in providing housing for the poor and developing world-class infrastructure, reflecting the government’s commitment to inclusive growth and national progress.
Draupadi Murmu said that our Constitution is a living and progressive document. Through our Constitution we have achieved the goals of social justice and inclusive development. She said that I urge all citizens to adopt constitutional ideals in their behavior and perform their fundamental duties and work towards achieving the national goal of a developed India by 2047. He said that a new era has been started with the Nari Shakti Vandan Act. He said that today, apart from being a leading economy, our country is also playing the role of Vishwabandhu.
