Former Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray underwent angioplasty surgery, was admitted to the hospital after heart blockage.
Former Maharashtra chief minister and Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray was admitted to Mumbai’s Reliance Hospital on Monday to undergo tests to identify blockages in his heart and arteries followed by angioplasty surgery. It is said that Thackeray was not well after the Dussehra rally held on October 12, where he gave a fiery speech attacking the ruling Mahoti government and the Centre.

Earlier in 2016, Thackeray was discharged from Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai, where he had undergone angiography. Following angioplasty, which took place on July 20, 2012, Thackeray underwent a procedure when doctors inserted 8 stents to clear multiple blockages in the three main arteries in his heart. The former Maharashtra Chief Minister underwent a second angioplasty in November 2012 to remove blockages in his left anterior descending artery (LAD), which was blocked by about 60 percent.
Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray on Saturday said he broke the alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) because he did not agree with its version of Hindutva. Thackeray also questioned the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) whether today’s ‘hybrid’ BJP is acceptable to it. Addressing his party’s annual Dussehra rally at Shivaji Park here ahead of the Maharashtra assembly elections, Thackeray said he has not left the ideology of his father and Shiv Sena founder Bal Thackeray.

Thackeray said that I respect RSS and (its chief) Mohan Bhagwat. Bhagwat says that Hindus should unite for self-defense. For whom are you saying all this when the BJP government has been in power for 10 years and has got the mandate again? Should Hindus still feel unsafe? He said that I want to ask the RSS, which is entering its centenary year, to organize a contemplation camp and introspect whether it agrees with the present BJP which has become ‘hybrid’. There are leaders of other political parties in it. It needs the crutch of traitors to eliminate me.
