Alert issued regarding cyclone Dana.

High alert has been issued before cyclone Dana hits West Bengal and Odisha. Indian Meteorological Department IMD has predicted that Cyclonic Storm Dana will make landfall on Thursday, October 24. The effect of this cyclonic storm will be seen in Odisha as well as West Bengal. Due to the cyclone, there will be rain with strong thunderstorm in many parts of Odisha and West Bengal.

Dana will reach the coast on 24th October

Releasing the forecast, the Indian Meteorological Department said that a cyclonic storm, which has been named Dana, will hit the Odisha coast and is expected to reach the coast by October 24. IMD has issued a rain alert in Odisha and West Bengal as well as in many other states of the country.

How dangerous is Dana?

Due to cyclone Dana, there is a possibility of wind speed of 100 to 110 km per hour in Puri, Bhadrak, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur and Cuttack. The Meteorological Department has also predicted heavy rain in the coastal districts of East Midnapore, West Midnapore, South 24 Parganas and North 24 Parganas of West Bengal on Wednesday. Paradip and Haldia ports have been put on alert.

High alert in these districts

Alert has been issued for Bhadrak, Balasore, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam, Kandhamal, Nayagarh, Rithik of Odisha. At the same time, the Meteorological Department has also said that there is a possibility of heavy to very heavy rain in Kolkata, Howrah, Hooghly, North 24 Parganas, Purulia and Bankura districts on 23, 24 and 25 October.
