On 11 November, Manipur Police claimed that 10 suspected terrorists were killed in a fierce gunbattle with security forces. The encounter began when rebels in camouflage uniforms and armed with sophisticated weapons opened sustained fire on Borobekara police station and the adjacent CRPF camp at Jakuradhor in Jiribam district.

This triggered violent protests in Jiribam as protesters attacked the residences of three ministers and 6 MLAs on Saturday. The state ministers whose residences were attacked by protesters included Sapam Ranjan, L Susindro Singh and Y Khemchand, an official said. After the attack, the government imposed a curfew and shut down the internet.
