Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Friday said that during the time he was holding the Home department, more than 40,000 policemen were recruited and it is a ‘record’.

Fadnavis said that whether it was his first tenure as Home Minister or the current one, under his leadership maximum police recruitment was done in the state and various vacancies in this important department were filled.

The senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader joined the cabinet headed by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde in 2022 and was given the responsibility of the Home Ministry. As Chief Minister from 2014 to 2019, Fadnavis also held the charge of the Home Department.

He said, “During my tenure as Home Minister, more than 40,000 recruitments were made in the police. This is a kind of record. We filled all types of posts, ensuring that there was no shortage of staff in the police department.
