Maharashtra Politics. Suspense continues on CM, Eknath Shinde can take a big decision
Everyone’s eyes are on the politics taking place regarding government formation in Maharashtra. Even after the announcement of the swearing-in ceremony, there is suspense over the name of the candidate for the post of CM. BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis is leading in the race for the post of Chief Minister. Ajit Pawar has also said that the next Chief Minister of the state will be from BJP. Amidst all this, there is speculation that former CM Eknath Shinde is not happy with the way the new government is being shaped. A leader of his party has said that he may take an important decision soon.

When will the swearing in ceremony take place?

State BJP chief Chandrashekhar Bawankule on Saturday announced that the swearing-in ceremony of the Mahayuti government will be held on December 5. He told that the ceremony will be held at Azad Maidan in South Mumbai at 5 pm. Prime Minister Modi will attend this function.

Who is the next Chief Minister of Maharashtra?

It has not been announced yet who will be the Maharashtra Chief Minister, but BJP sources said that Fadnavis is the frontrunner for the top post. A BJP leader said that a meeting will be held on December 2 to elect the leader of the party’s legislature party. He said that this time Fadnavis is likely to get the post of Chief Minister. NCP chief Ajit Pawar said on Saturday, ‘The next Chief Minister of Maharashtra will be from the BJP and two Deputy Chief Ministers will be from other constituents of the Grand Alliance.’

Eknath Shinde sidelined?

Amidst the suspense over the name of the chief ministerial candidate, Shinde’s close aide and Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Shirsat said that caretaker chief minister Eknath Shinde may take an important decision by Sunday. When asked about allocation of ministries, he said that his party should get the Home Department. He claimed that efforts were made to sideline Shinde.
Let us tell you, Shinde had made it clear that any decision taken by the top leadership of BJP on the post of Chief Minister would be acceptable to him. But he is under pressure from a group of Shiv Sena leaders who believe that he should not become the Deputy Chief Minister as he has been the Chief Minister for more than two years. Another group of party leaders is insisting that they should be part of the new government.
