This was the time when major changes were needed to give a new direction to the Indian economy. At such a time, Manmohan Singh implemented the policy of economic liberalization, privatization, and globalization.

Manmohan Singh, as Finance Minister, made major changes in policies to attract foreign investment and made India’s trade policy more flexible.
