President Draupadi Murmu, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar and other dignitaries paid tribute to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on his birth anniversary on Thursday. His birth anniversary is celebrated as ‘National Unity Day’.
Tributes were paid to the country’s first Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister by offering flowers to his statue at Patel Chowk in the national capital. Born in 1875 in Nadiad, Gujarat, Patel was an important hero of India’s freedom struggle.
Known for his exceptional leadership and unwavering commitment to national integration, Patel is remembered as the “Iron Man of India”. National Unity Day commemorates Patel’s efforts in merging various princely states into India and promotes the feeling of unity among the people of India.
