On Sunday, six migrant laborers and a local doctor were killed in a terrorist attack on a construction site in Ganderbal district, while on October 18, a laborer from Bihar was shot dead by terrorists in Shopian district.

Meanwhile, CCTV footage of a terrorist involved in the terrorist attack in Gagangir has surfaced, in which he is seen wearing Kashmiri attire ‘Pheran’ and carrying an AK-rifle in his hand, but investigators have said that they are yet to confirm this. It remains to be confirmed whether this terrorist was involved in the attack on October 20 or not. Official sources said the terrorist was seen entering a hut. He said that it is believed that this is the same hut which is present near the Gagangir Tunnel construction site. Sources said that security officials are trying to ascertain the authenticity of the footage on the basis of various aspects. Sources said ‘January 27’ is written in the top right corner of the CCTV footage, although this could be due to a setting or technical problem. He told that the rifle seen in the hand of the terrorist has a blue mark on its front end. Sources said that terrorists had used this type of rifle in attacks on security forces in the Pir Panjal region. Pir Panjal is about 200 kilometers from Gagangir. He said that the terrorist seen in CCTV had not covered his face while eyewitnesses of the attack claimed that the attackers had covered their faces. A senior police officer said it was too early to comment on the evidence collected so far, as it could affect the investigation into the case.

Omar met the Union Home Minister in Delhi
Meanwhile, newly elected Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir Omar Abdullah met Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday and discussed issues related to the Union Territory. These issues also included the issue of early restoration of statehood. Abdullah, who reached the national capital for the first time after assuming charge last week, held a meeting with the Home Minister for about 30 minutes. Abdullah later said that it was a courtesy call, during which he apprised the Union Home Minister about the situation in Jammu and Kashmir and also discussed the issue of restoration of statehood. Let us tell you that after Jammu and Kashmir became a Union Territory in the year 2019, the police force comes under the jurisdiction of the Union Home Ministry. During his stay in Delhi, Chief Minister Abdullah will meet several Union ministers and is also scheduled to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
