Cold wave continues to prevail in Delhi NCR and other North Indian states of the country. According to the Meteorological Department, cold wave will continue in these states for the next 5 days. The weather department said “cold wave conditions are likely to prevail at isolated places over northwest and adjoining central India during the next five days.” At the same time, there is trouble in South Indian states due to heavy rains. The Meteorological Department has issued an alert for four states on Thursday (December 12).

On December 12, a warning has been issued regarding heavy rain in four states of South India. Orange alert has been issued for Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. At the same time, yellow alert has been issued for Kerala, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh.

Mercury less than 5 degrees in Delhi

The cold wave continues in Rajasthan and its effect was visible in Delhi on Wednesday, while the higher reaches of Kashmir received fresh snowfall. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said cold winds have caused cold wave conditions in the national capital and the minimum temperature in Delhi was recorded at 4.9 degrees Celsius. It said the minimum temperature in early December has been recorded below five degrees Celsius for the first time in 14 years. According to the data, the lowest minimum temperature during this period was recorded at 4.1 degrees Celsius on December 6, 1987.

Possibility of cold wave in Delhi

There is a possibility of cold wave in Delhi between 11 and 13 December. Gulmarg and Sonamarg in Kashmir received fresh snowfall today, while intermittent snowfall continued in other higher reaches of the valley, officials said. Due to cloudy sky, night temperatures have improved in the entire valley including Srinagar. However, the minimum temperature remained below freezing point throughout the valley. The minimum temperature in Srinagar city was recorded at minus three degrees Celsius. The minimum temperature in Gulmarg was recorded below minus six degrees Celsius.

Possibility of light rain in Kashmir

The Meteorological Department said that due to the fresh western disturbance in Jammu and Kashmir, there is a possibility of light rain or snow at isolated places, especially in the higher reaches of the valley, till Thursday morning. Sikar in Rajasthan remained the coldest in the state at 1.5 degrees Celsius on Tuesday night. The Meteorological Department said that the minimum temperature at many places in the state ranged between 1.5 to 10.8 degrees Celsius. The weather remained mostly dry across the state. Extreme cold wave conditions were recorded at one or two places, while cold wave conditions were observed at many other places.
