Balasore: A heart-wrenching incident has come to light from Soro block of Balasore district of Odisha. A farmer died due to snake bite while working in the field. In an attempt to save himself, the farmer caught hold of the snake and reached the hospital, but his life could not be saved.
What is the whole matter?
Actually, Bharat Behera, a 45-year-old farmer of San Biripada village of Soro block of Baleshwar district, had gone to his field early in the morning to harvest paddy like every day. Since it was a winter morning, there was dew and moisture in the field, due to which there was a danger of snakes and insects in the field.
Bharat was harvesting crops in the field when suddenly a poisonous snake bit him. As soon as he realized the snake bite, he called other farmers working nearby for help. The farmers present in the field immediately caught the snake so that it could be taken to the hospital and shown to the doctors. Bharat Behera rushed to the local sub-health center in the hope of saving himself by putting the snake in a bag. Some people of the village were also with him. On reaching the hospital, doctors started first aid but Bharat’s condition was worsening, so he was immediately referred to Balasore District Main Hospital.
What did the CDMO of Baleshwar tell?
Baleshwar’s CDMO said, ‘Bharat’s condition was critical and he died during treatment. Doctors tried their best to save him, but he died. We have conducted postmortem of the dead body and handed it over to the family members. No concrete information regarding poison could be revealed in the post mortem report. The facts about the poison will become clear only after the viscera report comes.

There is a wave of mourning in the village due to the death of Bharat Behera. His family members are in deep shock. Villagers have described this incident as extremely unfortunate and painful. The elders of the village say that one always has to face such dangers while working in the fields, but this time the accident became very big. Bharat Behera’s death is a tragic incident, which is a warning to farmers and villagers.
