Pakistan Cricket Board often takes such decisions which surprise everyone. Some time ago, limited overs coach Gary Kirsten had resigned from his post. After which PCB made Jason Gillespie the acting limited overs coach, while he was already the red ball coach. Under his coaching, the Pakistani team won the ODI series against Australia. Now PCB has appointed Aaqib Javed as the interim limited overs coach in his place. Whereas Gillespie will remain the Test coach and will be the coach in the two-Test series against South Africa.

Champions Trophy will last till 2025

Former fast bowler Aaqib Javed will remain the interim coach of the Pakistan men’s cricket team until the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. Aaqib is currently a member of the selection committee of the national team. He will continue to do this work. He will be given additional responsibilities when the Champions Trophy ends and after that. Then PCB will conduct recruitment for the head coach of Pakistan cricket team.

Aaqib Javed has coaching experience

Aaqib Javed has coaching experience, which can be useful for the Pakistani team. He has been the bowling coach of Pakistan and the head coach of the Under-19 team. He was a member of the Pakistani team that won the 1992 ODI World Cup title. He has taken 54 wickets in 22 Test matches and 182 wickets in 163 ODI matches for the Pakistani team.

Series to be played against Zimbabwe and South Africa

Pakistani cricket team has to play a series of three ODIs and three T20 matches against Zimbabwe. After this, there will be a series of so many matches against South Africa also. Before the Champions Trophy, Pakistani team has to play a tri-series against South Africa and New Zealand.
