Indian Test team captain Rohit Sharma is struggling with very poor form and runs have stopped coming from his bat. He has not been able to perform well in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia. Under his captaincy, the Indian team had to lose the Test series at home. After this, two Tests have been lost against Australia under his captaincy. After the poor performance, veterans like Ravi Shastri and Irfan Pathan have raised questions. Now Australia’s Michael Clarke said that Rohit Sharma has earned the right to retire from cricket on his own terms.
Rohit will play in Sydney Test: Clarke
Michael Clarke said that you must have seen that this happens with many players, for some captaincy is helpful, while for others it is not. I definitely think he will play in Sydney. I don’t think they will drop him from the team. I think Rohit Sharma has earned this right and he is the captain. When you are captain you also get a little more leeway. But his statistics are not very good. But they will allow Rohit to proceed on his own terms. I don’t know whether Sydney will be his last Test or not. I don’t know what he is thinking or what plans India has in terms of Test cricket.
Clarke said that I do not know how Rohit feels in terms of captaincy. Now he has become the father of a second child. I think he will definitely play in Sydney. Rohit’s average as captain is 30.58 but before this he had scored runs at an average of 46.87. This year he has not been able to perform as per his name.
Gave special advice to Nitish Reddy also
Michael Clarke said in ‘Beyond 23 Cricket Podcast’ that this young Reddy, who bats at number eight, is a talented player. I think he should bat at number seven, if not sixth. He is the highest run scorer for India. He’s a 21-year-old player, incredible. He is underestimated throughout the series.
