This big event happened in the history of Test cricket after 100 years, an unwanted record was registered in the name of India's neighboring country.

In the history of Test cricket, Sri Lanka became the first team to make such a shameful record in 100 years.

Sri Lanka Register Embarrassing Record: Among all the three formats of cricket, Test is a format where batsmen get full opportunity to play long innings comfortably and it has rarely been seen in which a team has been reduced to a score of 100 or less. However, in the last few years, it has been seen that the teams in Test cricket are shrinking very quickly, which was seen in the first match of the 2-match Test series between South Africa and Sri Lanka being played in Durban. In this match, the Sri Lankan team made its lowest score in the history of Test cricket by scoring 42 and also registered an unwanted record in its name in the last 100 years.

Sri Lankan team collapsed after facing only 83 balls.

In the Durban Test match, the Sri Lankan team was not only limited to a score of 42 in its first innings but it was also able to face only 83 balls i.e. 13.5 overs. This is the record of the team being all out while facing the least number of balls in the history of Test cricket in the last 100 years. Earlier in the year 1924, the South African team was limited to a score of only 30 runs in the Edgbaston Test match against England in which they faced 75 balls. If we talk about the first innings of the Durban Test match of the Sri Lankan team, then 9 players of their team could not even touch the double figures.

There was no response to Marco Yanson’s balls.

For the South African team, Marco Janson’s bowling played an important role in restricting Sri Lanka’s first innings to a score of just 42, in which he took 7 wickets while conceding 13 runs in just 6.5 overs. Apart from this, Gerald Coetzee 2 and Kagiso Rabada also managed to take one wicket. South Africa has now managed to take a lead of 149 runs on the basis of first innings score in this match, which will prove to be very important in deciding the outcome of this match. Both Sri Lanka and South Africa are also involved in the race to reach the final match of the World Test Championship.
